Psalm 144
/“O LORD, what is man that you regard him, or the son of man that you think of him?” (v3). The psalmist combined a breathtaking awe of God’s majesty with the certainty that God – the Creator of everything – cares for us. “He is my steadfast love and my fortress, my stronghold and my deliverer” (v2). Though “man is like a breath” (v4), the psalmist dared to call out to God: “Bow your heavens, O Lord, and come down!” (v5).
In times of trouble, we can be confident that our awesome Creator sees us, knows our names, and welcomes our prayer: “Rescue me and deliver me from the many waters” (v7).
