Psalm 109
/“But you, O GOD my Lord, deal on my behalf for your name's sake; because your steadfast love is good, deliver me!” (v21). The psalmist wanted God to deliver him from the “words of hate” and false accusations he was facing. He felt vulnerable against these accusers who had turned his good works upside down (v5); he was “poor and needy” (v22), exhausted and defenseless. Shockingly, he asked God to take revenge on the wicked and their families (v6-20) so that justice would prevail.
God “stands at the right hand of the needy one” (v31). We face difficult situations that leave us needy and vulnerable. God is our defender and refuge, the Judge who is also merciful.
