Psalm 121

“He will not let your foot be moved …” (v3). Israelites went up to Jerusalem several times a year for special religious festivals; this “song of ascents” reminded the travelers of God’s unfailing protection on the journey. Wherever we go, however treacherous or unknown our path, God is with us every step of the way. While we are sleeping, He is awake (v4). We may face trials and trouble, even death, but He will guard us against evil that would destroy us (v7). Our lives are in His hands.

“My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth” (v2). The Creator of the universe guides us and walks with us on the journey.
