Isaiah 21-22
/“All your leaders have fled together; without the bow they were captured …” (22:3). Isaiah described a failure of leadership among God’s people when they were faced with the Assyrian threat. Some simply ran away; others analyzed weapons, resources, and logistics but forgot the God who had created Israel (v8-11). “You did not look to him who did it, or see him who planned it long ago” (v11). Meanwhile, Israelites who should have been praying and mourning were partying thoughtlessly (v13).
“He shall open, and none shall shut” (v22). Without the Lord, human wisdom and leadership can lead us into danger. But when we humbly seek God and follow His ways, we are safe.
