Jeremiah 23

“Do not listen to the words of the prophets who prophesy to you, filling you with vain hopes. They speak visions of their own minds, not from the mouth of the LORD” (v16). God was particularly outraged that the spiritual leaders of His people, the prophets and priests, were speaking lies in His name. They were chosen by God to lead the people in faithful obedience; however, because they spent no time with God (v22), these false leaders were simply projecting their own fantasies and trying to win human favor (v25).

“The Lord is our righteousness” (v6). God has revealed Himself to us in the Son; therefore, anyone truly speaking in His name will reflect the heart of the Savior.
