Psalm 61
/“Hear my cry, O God, listen to my prayer; from the end of the earth I call to you when my heart is faint” (v1-2). The psalmist understood that times of loneliness, stress, or fear can make us feel like we are living at “the ends of the earth” – isolated, even in the midst of people. The psalmist had been pursued by his enemies and former friends and realized that the Lord was his refuge, his strong tower of safety. He knew he would find comfort in God’s presence: “the shelter of Your wings” (v4).
“Let me dwell in your tent forever!” (v4). God’s presence is the one place we are always welcomed, always understood, always protected, always at home.
