II Samuel 7-8
/“I will be to him a father, and he shall be to me a son” (7:14). When David told the prophet Nathan that he wanted to build “a house” for the Lord, he received an amazing response. The Lord declared that instead, He would build a house (a kingdom) for David that would last “forever” (v16). God was promising to bless David’s family line as rulers of Israel, but more importantly, God was including David’s family in the plan to send the Messiah, whose kingdom would truly be eternal.
“With your blessing shall the house of your servant be blessed forever” (7:29). Our greatest privilege is that God includes us in His plan to life and hope to the world.
