Exodus 3-4

“I AM has sent me to you” (3:14).  God revealed Himself to Abraham as the “I AM,” – the forever existing One.  Yet this infinite God was also “the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob” (3:15).  The I AM was involved in the story of humanity and even with particular people; He had spoken to Moses’ ancestors and done miracles for them.  The I AM was willing, with Moses and the Israelites, to speak, act, show mercy, and deliver them.

“This is my name forever” (3:15).  God got involved with the troublesome Israelites, and in the Son He shared our weak humanity.  He loves us enough to attach His name to us forever.
