Matthew 11

“I thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that you have hidden these things from the wise and understanding and revealed them to little children” (v25-26).  Jesus invited his followers to evaluate him based on what they saw and heard (v4).  “The blind receive their sight and the lame walk, lepers are cleansed and the deaf hear …” (v5).  The humble (“little children”) eagerly welcomed this life-giving good news, but those looking for a spectacular show or asceticism were disappointed (v16-20).

“Come to Me, all you who are poor and heavy-laden …” (v28).  When we humbly welcome Jesus on His own terms, we find the help and rest our souls need.
