Exodus 29-30
/“I will dwell among the people of Israel and be their God” (29:45). God’s covenant with Israel declared that, despite their sinfulness, He chose to “dwell among” them, guiding them, receiving their worship, and ordering their lives. They would be able to approach God through priests and the rituals of sacrifice on an altar in the Tabernacle, and the rituals would ensure that they acknowledged God’s holiness and their need for forgiveness. God’s desire was fellowship with them (v43).
“I will meet with you, to speak to you there” (v42). God’s desire for us isn’t just that we obey Him, but that we have fellowship with Him. His presence is our true home.
