Leviticus 5-8

“If anyone sins and commits a breach of faith against the LORD by deceiving his neighbor…” (6:2).  Just as Jesus affirmed, the Law taught that loving God was inseparable from loving one’s neighbor (Lev 19:18). Deceiving, robbing, lying, or any other harm to another was considered “a breach of faith” against God Himself, who made men and women in His own image (6:1-7).  Therefore, these broken relationships had be fully restored and the victim compensated before the guilty person could offer a sacrifice to the Lord (6:4-7).

“He shall restore it in full” (6:5).  Getting right with the Lord includes reconciling with those God has put in our lives.  We can’t separate our devotion to Him from loving others.
