Exodus 38-39

“All the gold that was used for the work, in all the construction of the sanctuary, the gold from the offering, was twenty-nine talents and 730 shekels” (v24).  The tabernacle was created with gold, silver, bronze, acacia wood, fine dyed and embroidered linens, and animal skins.  The expensive and elaborate designs reminded the Israelites, still in the desert, of God’s glory and the fact that the whole universe was His.  The tabernacle was a microcosm of that universe, a place where God Himself dwelled and invited His people to worship and know Him.

“Holy to the Lord” (39:30). The tabernacle points toward God’s plan for the whole earth: through Jesus, to reclaim our original purpose of belonging completely to Him.
