Psalm 43
/“Why do I go about mourning because of the oppression of the enemy?” (v2). Like many of us, the psalmist lived through a time when the enemy’s lies and threats felt oppressive (v1). He knew that God was victorious, yet he felt cast down and in turmoil because of his present circumstances (v5). Despite these feelings, he continued to call on God, his “exceeding joy” (v4): “Send out your light and truth, let them lead me!” (v3). He knew that he would soon return to songs of praise (v4).
“Hope in God” (v5). We hope in God because He has proven Himself faithful to us and to others, over and over. We can trust that He will deliver us again.
