Psalm 54
/“O God, save me by your name, and vindicate me by your might” (v1). The warrior-king David was careful to let God be the one who “vindicated” him. David was hunted and betrayed by both friends and enemies (v3); “ruthless men” pursued him. Yet David refused to become like them; he refused to take vengeance and trusted that the Lord would reveal the truth. “Behold, God is my helper; the Lord is the upholder of my life” (v4).
“For He has delivered me from every trouble, and my eye has looked in triumph on my enemies” (v7). We can trust ultimate justice to the Lord, who alone is perfectly wise and good.
