II Chronicles 19-22
/“Then Jehoshaphat was afraid and set his face to seek the LORD and proclaimed a fast throughout all Judah” (20:3). King Jehoshaphat, faced with “a great multitude … from beyond the sea” (20:2), prayed desperately. He had wisely appointed judges throughout Israel and warned them: “Be careful what you do, for there is no injustice with the LORD our God, or partiality or taking bribes” (19:7). Now, rather than giving the people false hope in armies and weapons, he directed them to their real Defender: God Himself.
“We do not know what to do, but our eyes are on you” (20:12). When we don’t know what to do, we can trust the power and the kindness of our heavenly Father.
