II Chronicles 1-4

“Give me now wisdom and knowledge to go out and come in before this people, for who can govern this people of yours, which is so great?” (1:10).  King Solomon found favor with God by beginning his reign with humility.  Considering the incredibly huge task of governing Israel, he recognized his own limitations and asked God for wisdom.  God was pleased that Solomon hadn’t asked for wealth, possessions, honor, or long life (v11).  With the Lord’s help, Solomon organized Israel and built the magnificent Temple (ch 2-4).

“Because this was in your heart …” (v11).  Recognizing our own limitations and weaknesses drives us to call on the Lord. He always answers the cry of the humble heart.
