Malachi 2

“My covenant with him was one of life and peace ... It was a covenant of fear, and he feared me. He stood in awe of my name” (5). Through Malachi, God condemned the priests of Judah for neglecting and even poisoning their special role in the community. These spiritual leaders were called to represent Israel before the Lord in worship, teach others His ways, and walk in “peace and uprightness” (6). But instead, they modeled unrighteousness by divorcing their wives and marrying pagan women (10-16).

“Why then are we faithless to one another?” (10). Faithfulness to God means being faithful to one another: keeping our covenants, walking in love and truth, pursuing the peace and well-being of those around us.
