Psalm 86
/“Incline your ear, O LORD, and answer me, for I am poor and needy” (v1). When we are depleted, anxious, or troubled, the psalmist shows us how meditating on God’s character gives us new perspective. God is “forgiving, abounding in steadfast love … You are great and do wondrous things” (v5,10). The psalmist remembers his personal experience with the Lord: “In the day of my trouble I call upon you, for you answer me” (v7). This truth allows us to pray boldly, “Turn to me and be gracious to me …” (v16).
No matter how difficult our situation, we can call upon our God who is “merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness” (v15).
