II Corinthians 1

“For as we share abundantly in Christ's sufferings, so through Christ we share abundantly in comfort too” (v5). Paul explained that trouble and conflict were normal for followers of Jesus, yet they were assured also of the heavenly Father’s rich comfort. Paul confessed he was stretched to the breaking point: “For we were so utterly burdened beyond our strength that we despaired of life itself” (v8). However, God used his circumstances to teach him “to rely not on ourselves but on God who raises the dead” (v9).

“Our hope for you is unshaken” (v7).  As God carries us through our trials and pours out comfort, we have hope to share with others who are suffering.
