Job 9

“But how can a man be in the right before God?” (9:2). Job’s dilemma was that he felt God was treating him unfairly, yet Job could not “argue his case” before the Creator of the universe. God “is wise in heart and mighty in strength …who commands the sun, and seals up the stars …” (v4-11).  Job doubted God’s willingness to answer. “If I summoned him and he answered me, I would not believe that he was listening to my voice” (v16).  Job knew he needed an “arbiter” to help him (v33).

“I must appeal for mercy to my accuser” (9:15). Like Job, we can’t justify ourselves before our Creator, but we appeal to His abundant mercy in Christ.
