Job 16-18

“My days are past; my plans are broken off, the desires of my heart” (17:11).  Job’s troubles seemed like the end of all good things.  Delight, peace, and friendship were in the past, and even though he was still alive, he felt “in the grave” already because he had no clear vision for the future. Job poured out his tears to God (16:20), searching for an answer, for comfort, and for a way forward.

“Where then is my hope?” (17:15).  In Christ, we have secure hope: the regret and sorrow of this life is not the end of our stories.  God, who brings Life out of the grave, has promised to make “all things new” for those who trust Him.
