Ephesians 3

“For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named ...” (v14). Paul knew it was difficult for Gentiles and Jews to believe that they were brothers and sisters, and that God welcomed them all through Christ. He prayed for the Spirit’s power to strengthen them “so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith” (v14-17). As they were “rooted and grounded in love” they would begin to grasp “the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge” (v17-19).

Even when our hearts are hard or closed, God’s love can do “far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us” (v20).
