Colossians 3
/“You have put off the old self with its practices and have put on the new self” (v10). As we claim our “new self,” redeemed by Jesus, our primary identity is no longer rooted in nation, culture, or status in society. “Here there is not Greek and Jew, circumcised and uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave, free; but Christ is all, and in all” (v11). Instead, we begin to learn a new way “as God's chosen ones, holy and beloved,” developing “compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience” (v12).
“And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts” (v15). We are not ruled by sinful desires, or family or culture, or politics, but by the peace of Christ who is King.
