II Timothy 1

“I am reminded of your sincere faith, a faith that dwelt first in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice and now, I am sure, dwells in you as well” (v5). Paul encouraged Timothy that the faith transmitted by his mother and grandmother was resilient and far-reaching. The “holy calling” of all believers to become children of God through Christ was according to God’s own “purpose and grace” (v9), not something constructed by humans. By the indwelling Spirit, Jesus is protecting and nurturing our faith “until that day” (v12-14).

“For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control” (v7), and we can trust that He will help us be faithful to the end.
