Isaiah 59-62
/“Arise, shine, for your light has come” (60:1). Israel’s own sins, like the sins of all humanity, could not stop God’s desire to save. Isaiah prophesied that “a Redeemer will come to Zion, to those in Jacob who turn from transgression” (59:20), a better Savior than anyone imagined. This Messiah would be anointed “to bring good news to the poor ... to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound” (61:1). Men and women would be released from their bondage to sin and death.
All those who receive this Savior are no longer rebels or failures but called “The Holy People, The Redeemed of the LORD” (62:12).
