Matthew 17

“This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased. Listen to him!” (5). Peter, James, and John saw Jesus glowing with a bright light and talking to past heroes, Moses and Elijah. Peter wanted to put up three shelters, perhaps thinking that God’s favor rested on all three. But then they heard God speak about his beloved Son, and “when they looked up, they saw no one but Jesus” (8). No matter how great Israel’s past, Jesus the Son was God’s full, final, complete self-revelation.

“Listen to him!” (5). Nothing can compete with Jesus. We may gain wisdom from others and find pieces of knowledge anywhere, but he alone is our Way, Truth, and Life.
