Mark 1-2

“It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners” (2:17). Jesus went around proclaiming the amazing announcement – good news! – that God’s kingdom had come near to ordinary, sinful humans (1:15). He immediately began calling people to join his kingdom, people like Levi, and he demonstrated the goodness of the kingdom by healing the sick and casting out demons. But those who could not see their need for forgiveness could only criticize, attack, and reject him (2:6,16).

“I am willing” (1:41). Jesus is willing and able to forgive us, heal us, and put his Spirit in our hearts, if we will set aside our pride and eagerly receive him.
