Psalm 127

“Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor in vain” (1). Humans are capable of incredible passion, effort, and achievement, but unless we are connected to our Creator and His purposes, in the end our work is “in vain”. It becomes a burden or an idol, crushing us. Submitting our efforts to God means we can rest (2); we can sleep because He is in charge. God’s gift of children reminds us that our best efforts can’t produce or control life; He is the source of everything good (3-5).

“He grants sleep to those He loves” (2). We don’t have to carry the responsibilities of life alone. Our Father wants to help us work and rest as His beloved children.
