Acts 10-12
/The mission to the non-Jewish people begins in fits and spurts. Peter needs a confrontive vision from Jesus to overcome his hesitancy to preach the gospel among Gentiles (ch10). There are unnamed believers who decide to preach the gospel to non-Jews (11:20). The result is that “many believed” (11:21), and a new word is created “Christian.” (11:26) No longer defined solely by its Jewish roots, the church becomes a place for all people marked by Jesus “the Christ.”
It is easy to enjoy the goodness of Jesus and forget there are people who need to experience the same grace. May we have our eyes open to those who are outside our social circles who are waiting to become “little Christs”.
