II Samuel 6-7

“How great you are, Sovereign Lord! There is no one like you, and there is no God but you” (7:22). As King David’s rule grew stronger, it was important that all Israel understood that God alone was their help and defender, worthy of the highest glory. God was not an idol to be manipulated but the all-powerful Creator, and dishonoring him could bring about death (6:7). David’s “undignified” dancing demonstrated his desire to worship God, not himself (6:22).

“I have been with you wherever you have gone” (7:9). Our society urges independent self-promotion, but we are called to glorify God. We cannot defend or rescue ourselves; the Lord is the source of our help and salvation.
