Joshua 2-4

“When you see the ark of the covenant of the Lord your God, and the Levitical priests carrying it, you are to move out from your positions andfollow it” (3:3). Preparing to cross the Jordan, the Israelites were told to follow God’s ark, the symbol of his presence. “Then you will know which way to go, since you have never been this way before” (3:2). They were not capable of moving forward alone; they depended on God to dry up the river and lead them (4:23).

“He did this so that all the peoples of the earth might know that the hand of the LORD is powerful” (4:24). As we follow God in courageous obedience, depending on him, his reality is revealed through us to others.
