Psalm 18

“He reached down from on high and took hold of me; he drew me out of deep waters” (16). This great psalm of salvation tells us that the Lord hears our cries when we are drowning in sin, sorrow, or trouble (4), and he moves heaven and earth to rescue us. Yet his rescue is only the beginning; he then arms us with strength for our battles and makes a secure way for our feet (32-36). His “saving help” and “right hand” never leave us (35).

“He causes me to stand on the heights” (33). We can trust that the same Lord who conquered death for us also fights our daily battles, empowering us to stand firm in him.
