Ruth 3-4
/“Through the offspring the Lord gives you by this young woman, may your family be like that of Perez, whom Tamar bore to Judah” (4:17). Not by accident, the town elders blessed Ruth and Boaz’s marriage with reference to Tamar, mother of Perez. Tamar’s early life was full of disasters and disappointments yet, in the end, she received God’s blessing. Ruth was vulnerable as a foreign widow (2:10), yet she, along with Boaz the “guardian- redeemer” and her mother-in-law Noemi, experienced God’s favor.
“Praise be to the Lord, who this day has not left you without a guardian- redeemer” (4:14). Our Redeemer “works for the good” in all things, even our disasters and disappointments, when we choose his purposes (Romans 8:28).
