Deuteronomy 8-11
/“Circumcise your hearts, therefore, and do not be stiff-necked any longer. For the LORD your God is God of gods and Lord of lords ... He defends the cause of the fatherless and the widow, and loves the foreigner residing among you, giving them food and clothing” (10:16-18). God was calling the Israelites to live as his representatives in the land, acting as his ambassadors: defending the poor, loving the foreigner (10:19), and trusting God to provide for them (8:2- 4). They should fear no one but God himself (10:20).
“He is the one you praise; he is your God, who performed for you those great and awesome wonders” (10:21). Because we have experienced God’s “great and awesome wonders,” we can risk everything to obey him.
