Psalm 13

“How long, Lord? Will you forget me forever? How long will you hide your face from me?” (1). God sees from beginning to end, but as humans we live in the present. When the psalmist asked, “How long must I wrestle with my thoughts and day after day have sorrow in my heart?” (2), he was confessing that his present burdens made it difficult to hope in tomorrow. He called out: “Look at me and answer!” (3); he needed help to faithfully endure rather than give up.

“But I trust in your unfailing love, my heart rejoices in your salvation” (5). We keep trusting because God has proven his love in Christ. He who died for us will also bring light into our current situation.
