Hebrews 1
/“...in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son” (1-2). Writing to Jewish Christians, the author of Hebrews declares that the same God who spoke faithfully through the prophets now has spoken finally in Jesus the Son. Rather than being one more prophet, this Son was the One through whom the universe was made, and he is “the radiance of God’s glory” (2-3). The Jewish believers did not need to hang on to the past nor look elsewhere for salvation: Jesus is sufficient.
Because Jesus is “the exact representation” of God’s being (3), we can be confident that the God of the universe loves us and was willing to go all the way to death to rescue us.
