Genesis 20-22

“Take your son, your only son, whom you love—Isaac—and go to the region of Moriah. Sacrifice him there as a burnt offering” (22:2). Shockingly, God asked Abraham to sacrifice his very best gift, his beloved son, the result of God’s miraculous promise. Abraham obeyed, believing “God himself will provide the lamb” (22:8). God honored Abraham’s obedience and did provide, foreshadowing the day God would eventually provide the ultimate sacrifice – the Son, who willingly died for us.

“You have not withheld from me your son” (22:12). We can trust God with what is most precious to us, including our own lives and families, knowing he has given his only Son for us.
