Luke 12

“For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also” (34). Jesus told a parable about a man who had “an abundance of possessions” and needed bigger barns to store his stuff, but he was not “rich toward God”. Death caught him by surprise. Jesus told his followers that they should not obsess about possessions or pursue wealth; the God who clothed the birds and flowers cared even more for them (22-31). Instead, they were to focus on real “treasure” – knowing and serving the Lord (31-33).

“Do not be afraid, little flock, for your Father has been pleased to give you the kingdom” (32). Unafraid, we can live generously and passionately (33), investing in the eternal kingdom which is our true home.
