Hebrews 10
/“For by one sacrifice he has made perfect forever those who are being made holy” (14). Hebrews tells us that “the law” – the Old Testament rituals and sacrifices – was only a “shadow” pointing to Jesus (1). The yearly sacrifices reminded people of their need for God but did not cleanse them from guilt. Hebrews warns people not to “deliberately” keep sinning as if Jesus’ sacrifice meant nothing (26-30). Instead, Jesus’ one sacrifice created a “new and living way” and changed everything (20).
“Let us draw near to God with a sincere heart and with the full assurance that faith brings” (22). Rather than live with the shame and guilt of sin, through Jesus we have “full assurance” that the Father welcomes us.
