Luke 24
/“And beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, he explained to them what was said in all the Scriptures concerning himself” (27). The disciples loved Jesus but needed help understanding Scripture and God’s plan. When the women reported that the tomb was empty, the men thought their words were “nonsense” (11), despite having been warned (7). On the road to Emmaus, the disciples didn’t recognize their resurrected Teacher, but he stayed long enough to break bread with them and open their eyes (30-31).
“Were not our hearts burning within us ...?” (32). The Lord is patient with us. By his Spirit, he meets us “on the road” wherever we are; he speaks to us and helps us to understand.
