Psalm122
/“I rejoiced with those who said to me, ‘Let us go to the house of the Lord’” (1).For the psalmist, Jerusalem was the center of worship, where God promisedto dwell among His people. Jerusalem’s temple was the place where “the tribes” – who were often rivals – found unity under the authority of the “Lord our God” (4,9). When Jerusalem experienced peace and security (6-9), people from all over Israel were free to travel there to sacrifice and worship the Lord.
“Peace be within you” (8). Wherever we are, through worshiping King Jesus, we can experience real security and peace. United in Him, enemies become one family, and we look toward the city He is bringing (Heb 13:14).
