Ezekiel 1-6

“Like the appearance of a rainbow in the clouds on a rainy day, so was the radiance around him” (1:27-28). Sitting with the Israelites who had already been exiled to Babylon (1:1), Ezekiel saw the Lord on his throne in fiery splendor, surrounded by winged “living creatures” and gigantic, sparkling wheels racing back and forth. The Almighty gave Ezekiel a mission to warn his rebellious people (2:3) that worse was coming if they did not repent – the Babylonians would invade and destroy their land.

Ezekiel’s vision showed that the glorious Creator, the One who “looked like fire” (1:27), was on the move. Both nations and individuals answer to him, and his judgment is the one that matters.
