Luke 21
/“Be careful, or your hearts will be weighed down with carousing, drunkenness and the anxieties of life, and that day will close on you suddenly like a trap” (34). Decades before it happened in 70AD, Jesus prophesied about the destruction of the beautiful Temple in Jerusalem (6). Just as that catastrophe caught people unprepared (6), Jesus warned believers to “be careful” not to be distracted and caught up with the pleasures and worries of life so that they were unprepared for the Son of Man’s return (27).
“Your redemption is drawing near” (28). When our hearts are set on the Lord, we don’t have to fear his return. Instead, we “lift up our heads” and wait eagerly for our redemption.
