Psalm 129
/“They have greatly oppressed me from my youth, but they have not gained the victory over me” (2). The psalmist described “Israel” as having experienced pressure and opposition from the beginning. At times they were like a field under a harsh master (3), but God set them free to thrive. The psalmist called for the plans of their oppressors to come to nothing: like grass on a roof that “withers before it can grow” (6).
“He has cut me free from the cords of the wicked” (4). The great pressures of life, and even spiritual opposition, do not have to crush us. We can pray to the Lord who has power to give us freedom and a good future.
