II Corinthians 26-36
/Proverbs 14:34 says that righteousness exalts a nation but sin brings shame. Of the last ten kings of Judah, all were evil except Hezekiah (ch. 29-32) and Josiah (ch.34-35), the two most effective. Manassah, the longest serving (55 years), followed the spiritual and national renewal led by Hezekiah. Manasseh erased all Hezekiah had accomplished spiritually. In his old age he repented and was forgiven, but could not undo what he had done (33:12-19).
Three lessons are suggested:
1. We need to choose our leaders for their character, not their rhetoric;
2. We need to constantly pray for the leaders God allows to lead;
3. If believers pray, it is never too late for God to call a nation back to himself.
