John 11
/“This sickness will not end in death. No, it is for God’s glory so that God’s Son may be glorified through it” (4). Jesus loved Mary, Martha, and Lazarus (5), and he chose this family to display his glory. He sympathized with the terrible suffering caused by death (35), and raising Lazarus demonstrated that he was Lord even over our worst enemies: sin and the grave. “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die” (25).
“Whoever lives by believing in me will never die” (26). Because of Jesus, judgment and death do not have the final word, and by faith we can experience his resurrection life now and for eternity.
