Numbers 13-14

“The land we passed through and explored is exceedingly good. If the Lord is pleased with us, he will lead us into that land, a land flowing with milk and honey ... do not be afraid of the people of the land” (14:7-9). Caleb and Joshua told the people that Canaan, the ‘Promised Land’, was bursting with abundant life. However, most Israelite leaders lacked faith that God could lead them to the new life ahead. “We can’t attack those people; they are stronger than we are” (13:31).

“The Lord is with us; do not be afraid of them” (14:9). The battles and struggles of life are real and difficult. Yet God’s “exceedingly good” giftsbecome ours when we reach out by faith to receive them.
