John 14:1-14
/“Whoever has seen me has seen the Father” (v9). The disciples thought they knew about God; their challenge was to accept Jesus’ perfect revelation of the Father. “I am in the Father and the Father in me,” said Jesus. He spoke and acted by the Father’s authority, correcting the view of God held by Jews and Gentiles. Jesus challenged them to “Believe me” (v11), to embrace the image of God revealed in flesh, to follow the Way as he led them to God’s kingdom (v6).
Jesus is the Way, Truth, and Life. Every other idea or life-philosophy, every desire and goal, must be tested in the light of his words, his actions, his death, and his resurrection.
