John 14:15-31

“Whoever has my commandments and keeps them, he it is who loves me. And he who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I will love him and manifest myself to him” (v21).  Because Jesus was going back to the Father, he assured the disciples that they would have a powerful new relationship with his indwelling Spirit. Those who love the Son receive this Spirit and experience all the benefits of Jesus’ presence in their lives:  teaching, counsel, peace, etc. (v25-27).

“I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you” (v23).  God’s Spirit witnesses to our hearts that we are His sons and daughters, loved and adopted through Jesus Christ (Rom 8).
