Psalm 68

“The chariots of God are twice ten thousand, thousands upon thousands; the Lord is among them” (v17).  This psalm describes God the Warrior, who defeats evil “as wax melts before fire” (v2).  He who “rides through the deserts” is powerful (v4), yet He is also just and kind, “Father of the fatherless and protector of widows” (v5).  The psalmist imagines God’s great victory procession (v24), with singers and musicians, the twelve tribes, and everyone rejoicing that righteousness has won.

“O kingdoms of the earth, sing to God; sing praises to the Lord, to him who rides in the heavens, the ancient heavens” (v32-33).   Our God is both King of Kings and the Lamb who was slain.
